Integrative approach

I help people experiencing anxiety and trauma in relationships (family, romantic partnerships, friendships, workplaces). If you are feeling unseen and misunderstood, you are in the right place. Unprocessed events often show up as overwhelm, depression, conflicts, lack of boundaries, codependency, and low self-esteem. This can include things that happened within your close circles or systemic trauma.

Safe and non-judgmental space is crucial for healing. I will help you understand and unpack why you feel, think, and behave the way you do and learn and practice new skills for making positive changes. You can have agency over your own life.

My approach is to see you as a whole person, including your identities, cultures, environment, and past, present, and future. My main modalities are a combination of Attachment-based Therapy, Trauma-informed Therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Every person is different; each therapy will be uniquely formed for you and where you are at.

Some other modalities I draw from:

  • Psychodynamic

  • Internal Family System

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)

  • Mindfulness-based Therapy.

Focus

My primary focus is providing support for adults in the following areas:

  • Trauma (childhood/attachment trauma, intergenerational trauma, racial, cultural, and identity-related trauma)

  • Post-traumatic stress (PTSD) and complex trauma (C-PTSD)

  • Relationship issues (romantic, family, workplace, friendships)

  • Immigration and acculturation stress

  • Life transitions, anxiety, and depression

My journey

Being a first-generation immigrant, a woman of colour, ESL, Queer-identifying, and the first in my family to pursue higher degrees, I know how being “different” can make us feel small. We are relational beings and our relationships with people around us have a significant impact on our wellbeing, both emotionally and physically.

With my intersectional identities, I faced many unfair and uncomfortable obstacles in my life. It was difficult to have a safe space to detangle these events. Therapy was one of the best things that helped me get through this. While it took me a lot of work to get where I am today, I am grateful to be here, feeling more at peace with myself. My lived experience provides me with insights into how I can collaboratively work with my clients in an anti-oppressive, trauma-informed way, and I continue to educate myself on how I can be a better supporter and ally.

I’m a designer and researcher turned clinical counsellor and have extensive experience working with underserved populations, such as immigrants, refugees, BIPOC, 2SLGBTQ+, and people with physical, mental, and cognitive disabilities. As a Service Designer/User Experience Designer, I have helped design citizen-centred government services, including healthcare, public transportation, and legal aid services for 10 years.

I recognize my privilege as a settler/newcomer to this land and am grateful to live and work in the traditional territory of various nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. I continue to learn the histories and cultures, as well as intergenerational trauma and oppression that Indigenous Peoples face.
