  • Childhood trauma/ inner child work

Trauma can take many forms, from significant to smaller, everyday experiences that may have a lasting impact. I will help you connect with the hurt parts of yourself that may still be affecting your present-day experiences.

  • Emotional regulation

When faced with challenging situations, it’s common to feel overwhelmed with emotions such as anger, anxiety, or sadness. I will work with you to develop emotional regulation skills, so you feel more equipped to navigate difficult emotions.

  • Self-esteem/self-confidence

Low self-esteem and confidence can lead to self-doubt, anxiety, and depression. These can stem from a range of factors, such as childhood experiences and past failures. I will help you build a stronger sense of self-worth to take agency in your life.

  • Immigration/ acculturation

Immigrants and immigrant children may face unique challenges, such as cultural differences, language barriers, and microaggressions. I take a culturally sensitive approach to help you navigate these stressors.

  • Conflict resolution

Disagreements and conflicts are a natural part of human interaction. It's not the conflict itself that causes problems, but how we handle it. I will help you process emotions around the conflict and equip you with effective communication skills, so you can resolve conflicts in a healthy way.

FAQs

  • Although I mainly see Ontario residents (where I’m registered), I can also see residents of other provinces, such as B.C. depending on each province’s regulations. Please inquire if you are interested in working with me.

  • Each insurance plan coverage is different. Please check with the insurance company if your plan covers “Registered Psychotherapist”. If it does, you can simply submit the receipt with the registration number to get reimbursement.

Psychotherapists in Ontario normally don’t provide direct billing.

  • Yes. Go to the booking page to make a free 15-minute consultation appointment.

  • Clients will put their credit card information on file, and the payment will be automatically made at the end of each session. If credit card payment is not accessible, please contact me.

  • In the initial (first) session, we will go over your problem areas and goals in detail. We will set up therapy treatment goals and plans together. In the following sessions, we will discuss the issues that you are facing more deeply. I will help you process these feelings and learn how to get closer to your goals.

After several sessions, we will revisit the progress and see if we need to adjust our plan. Sometimes, goals change, and that’s okay! Being in therapy gives you more clarity as to what you want. We will keep adjusting our plans and goals as needed.

  • The length of treatment completely differs depending on your situation and needs. Some clients need help with short-term goals.

I tend to work with clients who want long-term self-improvement and maintenance work. Once you “get out of the woods” of more urgent issues and feel better, we can discuss an option to work long-term.

  • For therapy to be effective, it is important that clients attend the first several sessions on a regular basis. In the beginning, I normally take clients on a weekly or biweekly basis. We will reduce the frequency once they start to feel better.

When you are having a particularly stressful day, you can also book a one-off session in between regular appointments.

  • There’s no school type of homework! Most of “the work” you do in therapy happens outside of therapy sessions. That is, practicing the skills we discuss in our sessions, be it effective communication, self-affirmation, or grounding skills. The more effort you put into doing the work, the better you will feel soon.

I may suggest some reading or writing exercises from time to time, but you are not forced to complete them.

Wherever you are in your journey, we can all benefit from having support from a safe, non-judgmental professional.

I am here to help you navigate through both difficult moments and moments for celebration.
